CJ Prosise

prosiseNotre Dame
Running Back #20
RS Junior 6’0″ 220

Prosise is a high upside 3 down potential running back with low mileage

Good:
-Low mileage – 1 year at RB (looks like he didn’t play RB in HS either)
– Size
– 3 down player
– Excellent pass catcher
– Big play ability
– Breaks tackles
– Makes people miss
– Effort as a blocker

Bad:
– Inexperience
– Vision questions between tackles – a lot of steps in the hole and runs into OL
– 5 fumbles (2 lost) on 156 carries

Notes:
– Finished the season with a concussion and lingering ankle injury
– Strider

Prosise was a high school safety and kick returner that was recruited as an athlete. After redshirting his first year he played mostly special teams his freshman season. His sophomore year he started 6 games at receiver and totaled 29 catches for 516 yards and two touchdowns. His junior year he moved to running back and became the starter due to injury early in the season. He finished the year with 1,039 yards and 11 touchdowns before his season ended with concussion and ankle injuries.

Prosise is a high upside potential prospect who can be an immediate contributor because of his 3 down capability that includes the ideal size and willingness as a blocker. A huge positive is his limited mileage at the running back position. This is also a weakness because of the lack of experience and attributes associated with that such as vision and ball security. Prosise is a fit for an offense that runs more shotgun because his limit experience has been in the shotgun. He’s shown big play ability on outside zone runs and as a pass catcher. If he can pick up the NFL offense fast enough he can fight for playing time early in his rookie season.
