3-Round Post-Combine/FA Mock Draft

NFL Draft Stage

Your team is now on the clock. This is a set of what I would do if I was the GM of every team, not what I predict to necessarily happen, leading to some different opinions than the draft media typically generating. Trades were included and were listed in the round that they occurred; there weren’t many or any particularly big trades but, I found them to be logical in my echo chambers. Now let’s get into the mock.

OAK trades 1/10 and 3/11 to TB for 1/7. OAK jumps SF and CHI who would’ve likely taken Edmunds before them. They do this to give help to Khalil Mack and improve their weak LB talent pool. TB doesn’t see Chubb, Nelson, or Barkley on the board so they trade down to get the best pure pass rusher in the draft. This is based on the CHI/TB trade for CHI to jump NYG for Leonard Floyd and TB still got their guy (Vernon Hargreaves).

SEA trades 1/19 to CLE for 2/1 and 2/32. SEA is known for trading down and is in major need of more picks, they could’ve taken Isaiah Wynn at this pick but, decide 2 players are hypothetically better than 1 in their current rebuilding state. As later seen, they double up on OL to protect Russ and get the run game a bit higher functioning. CLE trades up to snag a potentially elite CB who was falling.

PIT trades up to 2/07 from TB for 2/28, 3/28, and a conditional next year 3/4/5, based on Bates production/snaps Y1. PIT takes Jessie Bates to get rid of Mike Mitchell to play deep third, which Bates is the best in the draft at. Bates is unlikely to make it to 28 due to MIA, NE, CIN, ARI, and LAC’s needs at deep safety paired with the general scarcity at the position. TB trades down because I just didn’t see the value there for their needs. They also tend to collect 3rd round picks for future trades or later use.
