3-Round Post-Combine/FA Mock Draft

NFL Draft Stage

Your team is now on the clock. This is a set of what I would do if I was the GM of every team, not what I predict to necessarily happen, leading to some different opinions than the draft media typically generating. Trades were included and were listed in the round that they occurred; there weren’t many or any particularly big trades but, I found them to be logical in my echo chambers. Now let’s get into the mock.

ROUND 1
Team Player Position

NYG Sam Darnold QB
NYJ Baker Mayfield QB
CLE Saquon Barkley RB

TB Harold Landry EDGE
MIA Minkah Fitzpatrick DB
BUF Roquan Smith LB
WAS Vita Vea DT
GB Jaire Alexander CB
ARI Connor Williams OT
BAL Calvin Ridley WR

CLE Josh Jackson CB
DAL Will Hernandez OG
DET Mike Hughes CB
CIN Marcus Davenport EDGE
BUF Mike McGlinchy OT
LAR Rashan Evans LB
CAR Carlton Davis CB
TEN DJ Moore WR
ATL James Daniels OC
NO Dallas Goedert TE
PIT Malik Jefferson LB
JAX Frank Ragnow OC
MIN Isaiah Wynn OG
NE Sam Hubbard EDGE
PHI Anthony Miller WR

Trades:

OAK trades 1/10 and 3/11 to TB for 1/7. OAK jumps SF and CHI who would’ve likely taken Edmunds before them. They do this to give help to Khalil Mack and improve their weak LB talent pool. TB doesn’t see Chubb, Nelson, or Barkley on the board so they trade down to get the best pure pass rusher in the draft. This is based on the CHI/TB trade for CHI to jump NYG for Leonard Floyd and TB still got their guy (Vernon Hargreaves).

SEA trades 1/19 to CLE for 2/1 and 2/32. SEA is known for trading down and is in major need of more picks, they could’ve taken Isaiah Wynn at this pick but, decide 2 players are hypothetically better than 1 in their current rebuilding state. As later seen, they double up on OL to protect Russ and get the run game a bit higher functioning. CLE trades up to snag a potentially elite CB who was falling.

ROUND 2
Team Player Position
SEA Billy Price OC
NYG Derrius Guice RB
CLE Ogbonia Okoronkwo EDGE
IND Martinas Rankin OL
IND Isaiah Oliver CB
PIT Jessie Bates S
CHI Christian Kirk WR
DEN Josh Allen QB
MIA Mike Gesicki TE
OAK Maurice Hurst DT
NE Ronnie Harrison S
WAS Lamar Jackson QB
GB Hayden Hurst TE
CIN Braden Smith OG
ARI Daesean Hamilton WR
LAC Leighton Vander Esch LB
IND Sony Michel RB
DAL Micheal Gallup WR
DET Taven Bryan 3T
BAL Alex Cappa OL
BUF Harrison Phillips DT
KC Austin Corbett OG
IND Courtland Sutton WR
CAR Nick Chubb RB
TEN Lorenzo Carter EDGE
ATL Derrick Nnadi NT
SF Kemoko Turray EDGE
TB Rashaad Penny RB
JAX Kyzir White S
MIN Wyatt Teller OG
NE Kyle Lauletta QB
SEA Tyrell Crosby OT

Trades:

PIT trades up to 2/07 from TB for 2/28, 3/28, and a conditional next year 3/4/5, based on Bates production/snaps Y1. PIT takes Jessie Bates to get rid of Mike Mitchell to play deep third, which Bates is the best in the draft at. Bates is unlikely to make it to 28 due to MIA, NE, CIN, ARI, and LAC’s needs at deep safety paired with the general scarcity at the position. TB trades down because I just didn’t see the value there for their needs. They also tend to collect 3rd round picks for future trades or later use.
