Wide Receiver #3
6’1”, 190 Junior
Calvin Ridley is a special talent at wide receiver out of Alabama that will not be waiting long to hear his name in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Ridley’s size, strength, and speed are all pluses in his favor. His physical traits paired with his uncanny ability to get open and find space make him a perfect specimen to contest as one of the best receivers in the country. While he probably will not be the first receiver off of the board, he will still be in the elite company regarding where he will be drafted on day one of the NFL Draft this spring.
Calvin Ridley’s route running
The play shows a perfect example of Ridley finding an open part of the defense and stopping on a dime and sitting tight until the ball makes it to him. He has shown time and time again that he has been able to find the soft spot of the zone or beat his opposition in one-on-one coverage.
Ridley has played with a mobile quarterback while at Alabama, Jalen Hurts. Ridley has done a very good job using his quarterback’s tendency to move outside of the pocket to his advantage. If an opposing defensive back successfully covers Ridley early in a play but his quarterback extends the play, very few defenses can limit Ridley for five or six seconds into a play. His desire to get open may be the best in the country.

Round value: First
Ridley has shown he’s a first-round talent and will make any offense that selects him instantly better.
NFL Comparison: Emmanuel Sanders
While Ridley’s play at Alabama is more physical than what Sanders has done in the NFL, Ridley’s game at the next level will be more focused on his ability to generate space by running his routes.
