San Jose State
Running back #7
Tyler is a one cut back who has had all kinds of success with San Jose State.
• Great balance.
• Very Shifty.
• Has explosive ability.
• Can catch passes out of the back field.
• Can be a threat in the kicking game.
• Very versatile.
• Can run inside and outside the tackles.
• Size is a question, but he bulked up from 177 to weighing in at 192 for the combine.
Had 264 carries and totaled 1469 yards this season. He caught 44 passes. Tyler Ervin returned 25 kick offs with a long of 71.
Ervin consistently proved his toughness in every game he’s played in. He accumulated many touches and made the most out of them. In the largest profile school Ervin faced his senior year, he rushed for over 10 yards a carry against the Auburn Tigers defense. Ervin was the lone weapon in a pro offensive system and was able to have success despite defenses focusing in on him. He’s a one cut back.
Tyler Ervin had a solid week in Mobile for the Senior Bowl. While there, he proved to be one of the better route runners among running backs in this class. His versatility in the run game, pass game, and special teams will help him climb draft boards.
Tyler Ervin was listed at 177 pounds at San Jose State. He weighed in at 192 at the combine. The biggest knock against him was his size, that has become less of an issue. He proved to be durable while in college, the added weight could help him in the pro ranks.
As one of my favorite players in this class, I believe Tyler Ervin will climb draft boards and get selected higher than a lot of people are thinking. I think he has the ability to provide an NFL team with an instant impact on the field.
